Software Engineer - Intern (Summer 2027)

Gravitate Energy LLCDallas, TX
Onsite

About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Software Engineer Intern to join our growing technology team for Summer 2027. This is an opportunity for a student who wants to write real production software, not busywork. You'll be embedded on a product team alongside senior engineers, working the same sprints they do, with a dedicated mentor and support as you ramp.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, graduating no later than Summer 2028.
  • Hands-on coding experience of some kind: coursework, personal projects, open source, or a prior internship.
  • Solid understanding of software development fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages; preference given to candidates with experience in our stack (Python, .NET (C#), Typescript, React).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
  • Able to work onsite in Dallas for the full 12 weeks, and authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Own well-defined tasks within your team's product area, with support and direction from a senior engineer.
  • Make reliable progress against sprint goals; ask for help quickly when you're blocked.
  • Participate in code reviews, taking direct feedback and acting on it while contributing to team knowledge sharing.
  • Build up knowledge of the fuel supply and logistics industry — curiosity and quick uptake matter more than prior exposure.
  • Learn the team's established design patterns and conventions, and why they're used.
  • Write clean, tested code with guidance, and validate your own work before it reaches review.
  • Communicate early and often — clear status in standup, clear PR descriptions, and good questions.

Benefits

  • 12-week paid internship
