About The Position

Staples is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for its Marketplace Platform. The intern will build a real feature end to end with a mentor on the platform Staples uses to list, price, and track orders on Amazon and other marketplaces. The work spans REST APIs, database changes, user interfaces, testing, and release. The intern will work with the full-time team’s code reviews, CI/CD pipeline, and release process, then demo the project to the team and business partners at the end of the summer.

Requirements

• Actively pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Enrolled as a full-time student carrying a minimum of 12 college credits.
• Coursework or projects in Java, Python, or TypeScript.
• Basic SQL and relational database knowledge.
• Familiarity with Git.

Responsibilities

• Build an end-to-end platform feature with a mentor, including REST API, database changes, user interface, tests, and release.
• Create and update REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Create and update user interface screens using React and TypeScript.
• Write SQL against Postgres and Snowflake to build and check features that use marketplace order and product data.
• Write unit and integration tests and help diagnose issues in lower environments.
• Participate in code reviews and use the team’s CI/CD pipeline and release process.
• Demo the project to the team and business partners at the end of the summer.
