•$45 - $55•Hybrid

About The Position

LinkedIn is hiring undergraduate Software Engineering Interns for a 12-week internship based at its headquarters in Mountain View, California. The role is hybrid, with work performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days according to team business needs. Interns will learn and work alongside experienced technical talent, developing engineering skills and judgment while building products and platforms. Possible work includes information-retrieval algorithms, large-scale infrastructure and storage, web and mobile applications, data infrastructure for storage, streams, media, and analytics, and systems involving distributed data storage, caching, and queuing. Interns may use AI-powered development tools and emerging technologies to support experimentation, debugging, and problem-solving, while applying engineering judgment to validate results. The internship also offers experience with multithreading, concurrency, scalability, performance, and open-source systems, as well as collaboration, feedback, and participation in LinkedIn’s intern community. Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program, returning to their program after the internship, and expected to graduate in December 2027 or later. Two 12-week sessions are available: May 24, 2027–August 13, 2027, or June 14, 2027–September 3, 2027.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a B.A. or B.S. degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and returning to the program after the internship.
  • Expected undergraduate graduation date of December 2027 or later.
  • Programming experience in Java, C, C++, C#, Python, Rust, Ruby, or a similar object-oriented programming language.
  • Knowledge of core computer science concepts, object-oriented design, algorithm design, data structures, problem-solving, and complexity analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a short-cycle, agile, iterative development team.
  • Strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, software design, and object-oriented programming.
  • Experience building, testing, debugging, or scaling software applications or systems through coursework, internships, research, hackathons, open-source contributions, or personal projects.
  • Skills or experience in distributed systems, operating systems, cloud computing, software engineering, data structures and algorithms, or technical problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Scale distributed applications and make architectural tradeoffs using synchronous and asynchronous design patterns.
  • Write code that delivers speed and quality, using AI-powered development tools where appropriate while maintaining engineering rigor.
  • Develop multi-tier, scalable, high-volume, high-performance, reliable user-centric applications that operate 24x7.
  • Produce high-quality software through unit testing, code review, and regular continuous integration checks.
  • Evaluate technical solutions, test assumptions, and use engineering judgment to validate and improve solutions before integration.
  • Apply computer science fundamentals and engineering judgment to complex, real-world challenges at scale.
  • Partner with engineers, mentors, and cross-functional teammates to exchange feedback and deepen technical skills.

Benefits

  • Annual performance bonus, stock, benefits, and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans may be included in the total compensation package.
