About The Position

As an intern with Textron, you’ll gain hands-on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You’ll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways – working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success. The Software Engineer Internship will assist with the development, auditing, and documentation of key processes and workflows, and will help gain a technical foundation, acquire leadership skills, project management experience, and cross-functional process knowledge.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong sense of accountability and integrity
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to deal with change and work in a dynamic environment
  • Must be authorized to work lawfully in the U.S. for Textron Aviation at the time of making application.
  • Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
  • Applicant must be eligible to meet any requirements to access controlled information if a position requires access to information controlled under U.S. export control laws.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, test, and document flight simulator software
  • Work closely with engineers of varying disciplines to meet project requirements
  • Participate in engineering design reviews
  • Perform hardware/software integration & testing on flight simulator training devices
  • Provide engineering staff with recommendations for software/hardware enhancements
  • Work on projects that have a measurable impact on our business
  • Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
