About The Position

Cartesian is seeking a motivated software engineering intern to join their team. This role involves integrating with new customers, improving the core platform, and expanding product capabilities within a startup environment. The intern will work alongside senior engineers and ship code to real customers. The internship is full-time and requires a dedicated focus due to its short duration. Potential projects include customer expansion, platform modernization, research tooling development, security and tooling implementation, UI/UX enhancements, optimization of cloud platform costs, and building full-stack test infrastructure. The specific project will be tailored to the company's needs and the intern's interests.

Responsibilities

Integrate with new customers.
Improve the core platform.
Expand product capabilities.
Design and develop new technology in a startup environment.
Work alongside senior engineers and ship code to real customers.
Develop robust interfaces for data and users with international retail brands.
Modernize the stack to Infrastructure-as-Code and upgrade the core Postgres platform.
Build infrastructure for machine-learning development and collecting fast, accurate edge-device sensor data.
Implement a new system for enforcing short-lived machine-to-machine credentials, hardening identity-and-access approach, and automating key rotation.
Make user interactions between the product and the physical world more seamless, ergonomic, and beautiful.
Instrument and measure cloud platform costs to optimize infrastructure, application, and development efficiency.
Build full-stack test infrastructure across physical devices, mobile, and backend.
