This opportunity resides with Warfare Systems (WS), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. Warfare Systems comprises cyber and mission IT; electronic warfare; and C5ISR systems. This internship is designed for rising college juniors pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. You’ll gain hands‑on experience that prepares you for a career supporting C5ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) systems.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • More than 60% of the required credits completed (for Level 4).
  • More than 40% - 60% of the required credits completed (for Level 3).
  • More than 20% - 40% of the required credits completed (for Level 2).
  • Experience with software development in a Linux environment.
  • Proficiency in languages such as C++, Java, or JavaScript.
  • Strong communication skills and critical‑thinking abilities.
  • A proactive, hardworking mindset and a strong desire to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Support Minotaur—our mission management system used across manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft.
  • Improve how operators detect, track, and understand activity on land and at sea by enhancing sensor data processing capabilities.
  • Build and refine new features for operational software.
  • Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle—design, implementation, integration, and testing.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and other interns on meaningful, real‑world projects.
  • Develop solutions to high‑priority operational challenges using machine learning, AI, signal processing, and video analytics.
  • Design intuitive, user‑focused graphical interfaces.
  • Improve and automate simulation, test, and verification workflows.
  • Create proof‑of‑concept prototypes for emerging technologies and future capabilities.
