About The Position

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Prepaid Cards Group, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team, designing and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You carry out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas and business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

The role involves software design, development, troubleshooting, and production code maintenance, along with creating architecture and design artifacts for complex applications. You also use enterprise-authorized AI coding and development tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, productivity, and automation, while validating outputs through review, testing, and secure coding practices.

Requirements

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
• Practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools at work for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation.
• Ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
• Ability to guide peers on safe and effective use of AI tools within team practices.
• Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.

Responsibilities

• Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, using approaches beyond routine methods to build solutions or break down technical problems.
• Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI coding-assistance tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
• Share learnings and reusable patterns from AI-assisted development to improve broader team effectiveness.
• Use knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure software development meets design constraints.
• Gather, analyze, synthesize, and visualize or report on large, diverse data sets to support continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
• Identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use the insights to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
