Software Engineer III

JPMorgan Chase & Co.•Plano, TX

About The Position

As a Software Engineer III in the Collaboration and Communication Product Line, you will design and implement cloud contact center infrastructure and application components using AWS and Amazon Connect. You will build scalable, resilient platforms and integrations using Python and Terraform, partnering with product, application, and infrastructure teams to set priorities, deliver iteratively, and improve reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. The role applies strong engineering practices across design, development, testing, deployment, and operations. You will help build modern, secure employee communications and cloud contact center capabilities that enable client-facing teams to serve customers efficiently and reliably. The role provides hands-on ownership across infrastructure, application components, and integrations in a large-scale environment, within a collaborative team that values inclusion, continuous learning, and practical innovation. You will contribute to infrastructure as code, automation, and observability, and support responsible adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering approaches with clear quality, security, and correctness validation expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, plus seven years of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, debugging, and maintaining production-grade full-stack applications or services in a large-scale environment.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Proficiency with AWS services and patterns for resilient cloud platforms.
  • Production experience with Terraform, including modules, state management, and safe change practices.
  • Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins, and using version control systems such as Git.
  • Experience using Kubernetes and Docker to create, test, and deploy runtime environments.
  • Experience designing and building web frameworks and REST APIs/service integrations, including technologies such as Spring Boot and MVC; experience creating user interfaces with React and internal UI toolkit libraries.
  • Experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, or troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and security and resiliency requirements; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption.
  • Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and DynamoDB.
  • Experience with distributed database systems, SQL queries, and PL/SQL stored procedures, including delivering solutions that manage and process large datasets.
  • Experience delivering solutions using an Agile software development lifecycle.
  • Experience monitoring and operating cloud services, including incident response and root-cause analysis.
  • Experience implementing fault-tolerant, highly available systems in complex environments.
  • Experience validating AI-assisted engineering outputs for correctness, performance, and security, and handling sensitive data appropriately.

Nice To Haves

  • AWS Certified Developer and/or AWS Certified Solutions Architect certification, or equivalent.
  • Experience with Amazon Connect or other cloud contact center platforms.
  • Experience with telephony, real-time communications such as WebRTC, and integrated application development.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow or similar workflow and service management tools.
  • Familiarity with modern frontend development and frameworks such as React, including creating dynamic and responsive user interfaces.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to lead technical discussions and knowledge sharing.
  • Experience with observability frameworks such as Splunk, Grafana, Kibana, and Dynatrace.

Responsibilities

  • Design scalable, reliable AWS contact center infrastructure and application components, including secure distributed systems, microservices, and message-queueing platforms.
  • Provision, deploy, and manage AWS cloud resources using Terraform and infrastructure as code.
  • Develop and maintain backend and/or frontend services and integrations supporting contact center workflows.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and automate software delivery and lifecycle processes for secure, repeatable deployments.
  • Migrate and deploy applications to container orchestration platforms such as AWS ECS, EKS, Fargate, and Kubernetes, using Docker and CI/CD automation.
  • Apply software development lifecycle toolchain capabilities, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation tools, to improve delivery and automation outcomes.
  • Promote responsible use of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, establish validation standards for security, correctness, and quality, and encourage reuse of effective patterns across the team.
  • Create and maintain APIs and integration patterns, including REST APIs, and implement OAuth2- and JWT-based authentication and authorization.
  • Work with real-time data and media streaming technologies such as Kinesis and Kafka.
  • Partner with engineering and stakeholder teams to define requirements, priorities, and delivery plans in an Agile environment.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve platform issues; perform root-cause analysis and implement durable fixes to maintain uptime and reliability.
  • Improve system resilience, performance, and cost efficiency through design reviews and ongoing optimization.
  • Document designs, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality and maintain best practices.
  • Coach engineers on responsible AI-assisted engineering, including validation through peer review, testing, and secure coding.
