About The Position

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within Consumer & Community Banking, you will serve as an experienced member of an agile team designing and delivering secure, stable, scalable technology products. You will develop critical technology solutions across technical areas and business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. The role includes developing production software with Java and related technologies, advancing behavior-driven development (BDD) and specification-driven development (SDD) practices, and building tooling that derives contract checks, mocks, and validation from machine-readable specifications. You will also lead responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices, improve operational stability through automation, and help engineering teams use new technologies effectively.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 5 years of applied experience.
  • Proficiency in Core Java, J2EE, and Spring Boot, with strong coding skills.
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants or agents to design, implement, test, and debug production code.
  • Experience defining test scenarios and automating unit and integration tests.
  • Experience with build and deployment processes using Bitbucket, Git, Jules, and CLOUD.
  • Knowledge of EKS, Kafka, and message parsers.
  • Proficiency with Oracle and Cassandra databases.
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, or troubleshooting, including setting expectations for validating outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using AWS EKS and Bedrock in an agentic AI approach to automation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot creative software solutions, including addressing technical problems beyond routine approaches.
  • Contribute to the rollout of BDD and SDD practices across product and engineering teams.
  • Build SDD tooling that derives contract checks, mocks, and validation from machine-readable specifications such as OpenAPI/Swagger, JSON Schema, and AsyncAPI for Kafka.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug code written by others.
  • Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes.
  • Establish consistent standards for validating AI-generated outputs, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and promote reuse of effective practices.
  • Use software development lifecycle tools, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value of automation.
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues and improve application and system stability.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability to existing systems and information architecture.
  • Lead Software Engineering communities of practice to promote awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.
  • Coach engineers on safe and compliant adoption of AI-assisted software development tools.
