Software Engineer III - Java, AWS, AI
About The Position
As a Java Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commercial Real Estate Technology Group, you will work as part of an agile team to enhance, design, and deliver software components for the firm’s technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You will execute software solutions through design, development, and technical troubleshooting across multiple components of a technical product, application, or system, while developing your skills and experience in the role. The role involves creating and maintaining production code, producing architecture and design artifacts, working with diverse data, and improving applications and systems. You will also use enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools responsibly to support coding, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation, while validating AI-generated outputs and sharing effective practices with the team.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
- Practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Strong experience with Java, Python, and ReactJS.
- Strong experience with Spring Boot, web development, REST services, and microservice development.
- Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for tasks such as coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation.
- Ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
- Ability to guide peers on safe and effective use of AI-assisted tools within team practices.
- Overall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Solid understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.

Responsibilities
- Execute software design, development, and technical troubleshooting, including developing solutions to complex technical problems.
- Create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
- Use enterprise-authorized AI coding-assistance tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity; validate outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
- Contribute learnings and reusable patterns for AI-assisted development to improve team effectiveness.
- Apply Software Development Life Cycle toolchain capabilities, including authorized AI-assisted development and automation, to improve automation outcomes.
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications and ensure software development meets design constraints.
- Gather, analyze, synthesize, and visualize large, diverse data sets to support continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
- Identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use insights to improve coding hygiene and system architecture.
