As a Software Engineer III, you will design and develop automation solutions that improve the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of Microsoft's enterprise infrastructure. You will build self-service platforms, infrastructure automation, and operational tooling that support hardware lifecycle management, provisioning, and fleet-scale operations across more than 70,000 servers. Working closely with datacenter operations, engineering teams, and vendor partners, you will troubleshoot complex production issues, drive root cause analysis, and improve service reliability. Your expertise in Linux, cloud-native technologies, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation will help reduce operational toil, improve MTTR, and enable sustainable infrastructure growth. The Enterprise Compute Frontline (ECF) team manages one of Microsoft’s largest on-premises infrastructure environments, supporting over 70,000 servers globally. The team focuses on hardware operations, infrastructure automation, incident response, observability, provisioning, and platform engineering to maintain service availability and reliability. Combining infrastructure expertise with software engineering, ECF develops automation, self-service platforms, AI-driven tools, and large-scale workflows that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual tasks. Engineers tackle complex infrastructure challenges, directly influencing the scalability, reliability, and advancement of intelligent infrastructure operations.
