About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Software Engineer III to lead the delivery of scalable software solutions through collaborative engineering teams. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality code across multiple languages and platforms, while integrating AI and machine learning components. The position requires strong technical judgment, ownership of deliverables, and effective collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to solve complex business challenges. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, mentor peers, and ensure alignment with broader platform and system objectives in support of Walmart’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Kotlin, and Java.
  • Strong expertise in object-oriented programming and documentation-driven development practices.
  • Proven ability to deliver scoped features and models through collaborative engineering teams.
  • Hands-on experience with code reviews, debugging, and CI/CD processes.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML components and using generative AI tools to enhance development outcomes.
  • Demonstrated technical judgment in designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Ability to translate complex business problems into actionable technical requirements.
  • A strong commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • OR 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Own the delivery of scoped features or models through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and ongoing support.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving the full software development lifecycle, including CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software intelligence and development velocity.
  • Translate high-level designs into detailed, scalable, and maintainable solutions aligned with platform standards.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define technical requirements and success metrics, ensuring solutions meet user and business needs.
  • Monitor application performance, perform maintenance, and ensure adherence to project milestones.
  • Promote engineering excellence through mentorship, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
