About The Position

The Contingent is a 501 (c) (3) venture non-profit focused on sparking and holding initiatives to empower leaders and mobilize community for the common good. Since their inception, they have leveraged the perspectives, skills, and needs of people of color and low-income community members to challenge the status quo and positively transform their communities. They ask hard questions, take risks, and link arms with neighbors, business partners, faith communities, and government agencies. From mentoring, to mobilizing volunteers, to restructuring systems, they prioritize empowering and mobilizing leaders to transform their communities. As a Software Engineer, you will be a member of their brilliant engineering team, contributing to the design of new innovative products. To be successful, you should be curious, a problem solver, and have experience in JavaScript, React, Tailwind, and familiarity with Node.js. You will engage in designing, developing, and enhancing new and existing products, participate in maintenance, testing, and evaluation, and provide proactive communication to the team about product progress and blockers. A key goal will be to take part in team sprint ceremonies to prioritize, review, and discuss backlog items, ensuring the workload for upcoming sprints is always correctly prioritized. Your recommendations will follow reliable, efficient, and high-quality procedures. You will perform feasibility, functionality, and quality testing of designs, and work with other members of the engineering team to ensure project milestones are met and projects are completed according to established timelines.

Requirements

• Be a curious, problem solver.
• Experience in JavaScript, React, Tailwind.
• Familiarity with Node.js.
• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience (or equivalent work experience) in relevant fields of software engineering, computer science, etc.
• Expertise in relevant technical fields, such as software development and quality assurance.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in successfully working with a diverse group of constituents utilizing multi-cultural intelligence, intentional listening, appreciation, and respect.
• Excellent external and internal written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Teams, Azure DevOps, etc.
• A willingness to be “hands-on” and work in a lean, fast-paced organization with limited administrative support.
• The capability of handling ambiguity and driving the work autonomously.
• The ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse, changing environment, while maintaining a calm and positive spirit.
• Experience supporting teams of entry-level professionals and coaching rising leaders in their development.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design of new innovative products.
• Engage in designing, developing, and enhancing new and existing products.
