About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Software Engineer III to contribute to the design, development, and delivery of software solutions for small to large-scale projects. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, develop code, perform testing, and troubleshoot issues to ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable applications. The position requires technical expertise in coding, debugging, and continuous integration, along with the ability to support business needs and guide junior engineers. The successful candidate will drive project milestones while adhering to company standards and promoting operational excellence. The team supports the Walmart Vision Center by delivering technology solutions that enable customers to order glasses, sunglasses, and manage contact lens needs. They design, code, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality applications using Swift for iPadOS to enhance customer experience. Working closely with product and project management, the team ensures timely delivery of feature-rich solutions. Following agile methodology, the team emphasizes innovation, quality, and performance while continuously improving processes and technologies to meet business objectives effectively.

Requirements

Proficient in Swift and Objective-C: Demonstrated expertise in both Swift and Objective-C programming languages, with a solid understanding of their nuances, syntax, and best practices for developing robust and efficient iOS applications.
Strong Problem-Solving Skills: A proven ability to analyze complex technical challenges and develop creative solutions, showcasing a knack for debugging, troubleshooting, and optimizing code to ensure smooth app performance.
API Integration and Data Handling: Proficiency in integrating RESTful APIs, GraphQL web services, and other data sources into iOS applications, along with a sound understanding of data management, storage, and synchronization techniques.
Collaborative Team Player: Strong communication skills and a history of working effectively in cross-functional teams, collaborating with designers, product managers, and other developers to deliver high-quality applications on time.
Comfort with Ambiguity: Ability to make progress when requirements are unclear or shifting, without waiting for perfect information.
Tech Flexibility: Willingness to pick up new languages, tools, or frameworks as the team's needs evolve.
Context Switching: Handles interrupts (production issues, shifting priorities) without losing momentum on primary work.
Learning Speed: Ramps up quickly in unfamiliar domains and applies new knowledge effectively.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
OR 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

Take a lead role in designing, coding, testing, and deploying feature-rich iOS applications, ensuring they meet quality standards, performance benchmarks, and user requirements.
Analyze and troubleshoot complex technical issues, employing a systematic approach to identify root causes and implement effective solutions that maintain app stability and functionality.
Work closely with cross-functional teams including designers and product managers to translate user stories and requirements into functional software, actively participating in design discussions, code reviews, and feature planning.
Integrate third-party APIs and web services, while implementing secure and efficient data handling processes, such as caching, local storage, and synchronization, to enhance application functionality and user experience.
Continuously research and implement best practices, design patterns, and emerging technologies to enhance app performance, user engagement, and maintainability, contributing to the innovation and evolution of our mobile applications.
