About The Position

We are seeking a Software Engineer I, Full Stack to join our product development team working on Incydr, our Insider Risk Management product. In this role, you will work as a full stack engineer with an emphasis on the front end of the Incydr web application, building features that help security teams protect corporate data and reduce insider risk. You will implement user interfaces in React and TypeScript, while also contributing to the backend services and APIs — built primarily in Kotlin and Java and hosted on AWS — that power those experiences. You will consume and help design APIs, maintain a consistent, high-quality user experience, and collaborate with User Experience, Product Management, Information Experience, and other development teams to provide features that bring value to our customers and help them secure their collaboration culture. Mimecast is an AI-first engineering organization. Our teams actively leverage AI-powered development tools across all facets of engineering, from code development to testing, documentation, and operations. We're looking for engineers who don't just use AI tools but champion their adoption and establish new ways of working.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of professional software engineering experience, with a full stack background and an emphasis on frontend development.
  • Experience with React and TypeScript fundamentals including components, props, hooks, etc.
  • Experience with modern HTML and CSS techniques.
  • Experience translating designs/mockups into functional, responsive user interfaces.
  • Experience with frontend testing frameworks (e.g. Cypress, Playwright, or similar).
  • Familiarity with REST APIs and integrating client-side applications with backend services; experience building or maintaining those APIs is a plus.
  • Exposure to backend languages such as Kotlin or Java, and to data repository technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch), is a plus.
  • Experience with object-oriented development, microservices, or multi-tier systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and deployment concepts.
  • Experience with agile/lean development processes.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of deliverables as part of a team.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment, both offering and asking for help when it's needed.
  • Comfortable working with non-technical staff.
  • Passion for building interfaces and systems that work well for users.
  • Able to communicate technical ideas to peers in written and verbal form.

Responsibilities

  • Write unit, integration, and system tests across the frontend and backend of your team's code.
  • Test, debug, and troubleshoot across the Incydr web stack, from the UI down to backend services.
  • Partner with teammates to ship end-to-end features spanning UI and services.
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and help manage deployment of services owned by the team.
  • Assist with production issues and escalated customer questions for the web application and services owned by the team.
  • Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to support production services and respond to incidents as needed.
  • Document code and review code and design docs from others.
  • Demo progress on team deliverables.
  • Participate in story mapping and authoring sessions.
