Software Engineer II
About The Position
ProEdge Dental Water Labs is seeking a Software Engineer II to join their first in-house development team. This role is crucial for owning and transforming the company's compliance platform end-to-end. The engineer will work closely with the Head of Technology, utilizing AI coding agents as the primary tool for development. Responsibilities include specifying features, reviewing code, testing, and ensuring production stability. The goal is to make the platform understood, well-tested, deployable without downtime, and adaptable to change. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days a week in the Centennial, Colorado office.
Requirements
- Approximately three to six years of experience shipping and operating web software.
- Daily use of AI coding agents as a primary development tool, with the ability to demonstrate the workflow live.
- Strong SQL skills, including reading and reasoning about stored procedures, triggers, and views (MySQL 8 or Postgres).
- Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript on the back end (Express or similar).
- Proficiency in React on the front end.
- Experience inheriting and improving codebases written by others.
- Experience with AWS, Docker, and GitHub Actions.
- Experience with Playwright or Cypress for end-to-end testing.
- Strong security instincts.
- Ability to write documentation such as decision records and runbooks.
- Comfortable being one of two engineers in a company of fifty.
- Ability to work in person at the Centennial, Colorado office.

- Infrastructure as code (CDK or Terraform).
Responsibilities
- Direct AI coding agents to build software, review code, write tests, and own the results in production.
- Migrate the platform module by module from a homegrown JavaScript front end and an untyped Express API to TypeScript, typed SQL access, and React, using the strangler-fig pattern.
- Write Playwright end-to-end tests, API permission tests, and SQL tests around a compliance engine.
- Build and own the delivery platform on AWS, including rolling deploys, rollback, monitoring, alerting, and managed secrets.
- Ship reporting, data views, and exports for the inside sales and Customer Success teams.
- Own the platform's integrations with HubSpot, NetSuite, customer APIs, and the BI data platform.
- Document decisions, create runbooks, and maintain a living map of the system.
- Share an on-call rotation with the Head of Technology.
- Raise problems early, propose solutions, and initiate small projects independently.
