At LG, we strive to make Life Good for Everyone. Company Overview We are a global leader in HVAC and consumer electronics solutions. Our North American R&D and engineering team works closely with Global HQ in South Korea to develop and validate advanced HVAC control systems tailored to the North American market. We are seeking a mid-level engineer to lead system integration testing, controls validation, and technical coordination between HQ and U.S. operations. Position Summary The HVAC Controls & System Integration Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert for proprietary control systems and integration solutions. This role is responsible for system integration testing, lab and field validation, regulatory awareness, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure successful deployment of HVAC control solutions in the North American market. This position requires both strong technical depth and the ability to operate in a consultative and leadership capacity across internal teams, distribution partners, and Global HQ.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in HVAC controls, system integration, or related controls industry.
  • Hands-on experience with system integration testing.
  • Strong troubleshooting knowledge of hardware and software systems.
  • Experience with serial communication protocols (RS485, Modbus, BACnet).
  • Ability to set up lab environments including electrical wiring and PCBA-level testing.
  • Fluent Korean language skills (required for HQ collaboration).
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with VRF or ductless mini-split systems.
  • Experience with embedded systems or microcontrollers.
  • Familiarity with cloud-connected HVAC platforms.
  • Programming experience (C, C#, or similar).
  • Experience developing technical documentation or training materials.
  • Experience with mobile control applications (e.g., LG ThinQ or similar platforms).

Responsibilities

  • Lead system integration testing for HVAC control systems, gateways, and cloud-connected platforms.
  • Establish and manage lab environments to replicate field conditions and troubleshoot system-level issues.
  • Capture and analyze communication logs (BACnet, Modbus, RS485, UART, etc.) for root cause analysis.
  • Support integrated validation of cloud-based HVAC control platforms.
  • Verify Point Lists and communication interfaces between HVAC equipment and BAS systems.
  • Troubleshoot serial communication protocols (RS485, Modbus, BACnet).
  • Optimize system interoperability and compatibility across devices and networks.
  • Serve as primary technical liaison between North America and Global HQ (Korea).
  • Communicate technical findings, market needs, and validation results clearly and effectively in Korean and English.
  • Proactively gather knowledge from HQ to strengthen U.S. operations.
  • Support pre-sales technical assessments and on-site control system evaluations.
  • Develop application guidelines, technical documentation, and training materials.
  • Deliver product and application training to internal teams, reps, and partners.
  • Provide consultative support to distributors and end users.
  • Monitor North American HVAC regulations and standards (e.g., Title 24, AHRI).
  • Track industry trends and evolving control technologies.
  • Identify technical opportunities for market expansion and product improvement.
