About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Frontend Engineer to help build and evolve Crunchyroll's connected-device applications. In this role, you will develop and maintain high-performance streaming experiences on Roku while contributing to shared client architecture, reusable application frameworks, and cross-platform capabilities used across connected devices. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and fellow software engineers to deliver scalable, reliable, and user-focused experiences. The ideal candidate combines strong development experience with modern software engineering practices and a solid understanding of TypeScript, client-side application architecture, and maintainable frontend systems. In the role of Software Engineer II, Frontend, you will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, LRX Core. We are considering applicants for the location(s) of San Francisco, CA.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience building production applications.
  • Experience developing and maintaining large-scale client-side applications.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript.
  • Experience building scalable applications using modern frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, Angular, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, state management, modular design, and reusable component patterns.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize Living Room applications while contributing to scalable client-side solutions that improve maintainability and performance.
  • Contribute to reusable libraries, application frameworks, tooling, and architectural patterns that reduce duplication and improve consistency across applications
  • Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, reliability, and documentation.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex issues across application layers, including platform-specific behavior, performance bottlenecks, and production incidents.
  • Optimize application startup time, memory usage, responsiveness, and playback experiences across connected-device environments.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other engineers while helping improve team processes, technical standards, and knowledge sharing.
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation for systems, architecture decisions, development workflows, and feature implementations.
