About The Position

The Collins Aerospace Avionics Software Tools organization is seeking a Software Engineering candidate with a passion for problem solving. You will improve and develop new tools that increase consistency, efficiency, and productivity of product development and testing across avionics systems for internal and external customers. This is an exciting opportunity to begin your career in avionics and work with a variety of different aircraft domains. This position requires a candidate with a strong customer focus, highly effective communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and advance multiple objectives. This is an onsite role based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Capable of using one or more of the following programming languages: C/C++/C#, Python, Java, and ability and aptitude to learn programming languages on the job as technologies evolve.
  • Linux and Microsoft Windows 11 experience and familiarity with operating and using software on Windows PCs.
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a team focused on innovation and production of software tools that enable Avionics airborne software development, verification and production.
  • Code, test, and provide ongoing support for simulation software and Avionics configuration tools to meet technical and customer requirements.
  • Implement DevOps tools and processes in Avionics engineering and apply technologies to automate and streamline avionics software production.
  • Develop tools and testing infrastructures that support automated build and continuous integration, and test using a variety of languages including Python, Java and C/C++.
  • Collaborate using software configuration management tools and DevOps tools such as Git, GitMR, Artifactory, Jama, Grafana and Docker in a cross-platform environment including Linux and Windows.
