About The Position

Join Collins Aerospace & the Mission Systems organization as a Software Engineer I. We are looking for a strong, passionate problem-solver with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with software development concepts and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Exposure to embedded software or hardware‑centric projects through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
  • Basic programming experience in languages such as C, C++, Python, or similar.
  • Experience or academic exposure to Linux, Windows development environments, or engineering tools such as Visual Studio, Eclipse, Jira, DOORS, or Jama.
  • Awareness of Agile methodologies, CI/CD concepts, or DevSecOps principles.
  • Interest in hardware/software integration and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design, development, and testing of real‑time embedded software used in navigation and timing solutions for military ground, airborne, and maritime applications.
  • Participate in the software engineering lifecycle, including requirements review, software design, coding, integration, verification, and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain production test software under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Implementing automated test scripts and basic driver components.
  • Supporting data collection, test execution, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Assisting in verification and validation of test software to meet program and quality requirements.
  • Contributing to configuration control and version management processes.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams (systems, hardware, test) to ensure effective hardware/software integration and high‑reliability performance.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, learning best practices in transparency, planning, and predictable delivery.
  • Apply engineering discipline, problem‑solving skills, and continuous learning to contribute to high‑quality software solutions.
