About The Position

Join Collins Aerospace & the Mission Systems organization as a Mechanical Engineer I. We are looking for a strong, passionate problem-solver with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations. This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
  • Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Foundational understanding of mechanical design concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of electronic packaging and test fixtures design.
  • Basic technical documentation experience, including engineering design drawings.
  • Familiarity with engineering simulation tools, such as Ansys, for modal and thermal analyses.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools such as Teamcenter and ENOVIA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new products and improve existing ones.
  • Design mechanical parts and assemblies for product and test solutions that meet company standards and customer requirements.
  • Verify part fit, clearances, and assembly alignment.
  • Consider manufacturing, material selection, tolerance, testability and maintainability when designing.
  • Follow strict design processes and pay close attention to detail for safety and reliability.
  • Work with cross‑functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Quality) to refine designs.
  • Create and manage Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Create 3D CAD models using tools like NX, Creo, and SolidWorks.
  • Check drawings for accuracy, correct GD&T, and compliance with the aerospace industry and Collin’s drafting and manufacturing standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and support accurate documentation.
  • Ensure drawings follow GD&T, aerospace standards, and internal drafting rules.
  • Support AS9100 quality compliance.
  • Communicate technical information clearly through written documentation and team discussions.
  • Demonstrate eagerness to learn, stay organized, and manage assigned tasks effectively to meet project deadlines.
