Software Engineer I, Entry-Level (Graduation Date: Fall 2026-Summer 2027) - US
About The Position

We’re looking for students completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree to begin their engineering careers with DoorDash. You’ll help build and operate reliable, scalable technology that improves the experiences of consumers, merchants, and delivery partners across our global platform. Our Engineering team tackles complex technical challenges across a global, three-sided marketplace - from creating intuitive product experiences to designing the infrastructure and backend systems that help local commerce thrive.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, graduating between Fall 2026 and Summer 2027
- At least two previous software engineering internships or equivalent practical experience, with no more than two years of full-time professional experience
- Experience using at least one object-oriented programming language, such as Python, Java, or Kotlin
- A solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
- Experience working with databases and technologies such as SQL
- Experience writing clean code, using version control, and creating unit tests
Nice To Haves
- Curiosity about using AI-powered tools to support software development, problem-solving, and learning, alongside an understanding of how to evaluate their outputs and use them responsibly
- Experience analyzing and improving the efficiency, scalability, or stability of software systems
- Interest in developing, releasing, and operating large-scale web applications
- Familiarity with systems monitoring, live deployments, or continuous integration
- Experience solving real-time technology problems
- Familiarity with service-oriented architecture, API development, or systems design
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and ship production-ready software with support from your mentor and team
- Write clean, testable code and contribute to code reviews, version control, and engineering best practices
- Learn the systems and technical areas your work contributes to, including how they operate at scale
- Apply feedback and coaching to strengthen your technical skills and problem-solving approach
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners to solve problems for consumers, merchants, and delivery partners
