About The Position

RTX's Collins Aerospace is seeking an Electrical or Computer Engineering candidate to join its Microelectronics Technology Directorate within the Applied Research and Technology organization. The role supports Mission Systems products by developing and optimizing Board Support Package (BSP) solutions for custom hardware, including bootloader development, Linux kernel tailoring, and device driver creation. The engineer will collaborate with software, systems, hardware, and FPGA teams on aerospace and defense technologies. The position involves designing and enhancing a customized Linux operating system ecosystem, with ownership of areas such as the build toolchain, kernel, root filesystem, bootloader, device drivers, and BSP for a variety of hardware boards. The engineer will contribute to embedded Linux software design, coding, testing, delivery, and support; investigate complex hardware-software problems; and prepare builds for simulation, reference platforms, and target hardware. The work uses Collins Aerospace processes and tools to support product quality and customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will learn engineering practices and processes from an experienced team, work with technologies developed internally and by external vendors, and gain exposure to embedded Linux and low-level software used in communications, security, and space-based products. This is an onsite, U.S.-based role in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. U.S. citizenship and an active, existing DoD Secret clearance after the first day are required; the candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
