About The Position
Mistral is building a sovereign AI cloud for Europe. The Cloud Platform team develops the systems behind compute orchestration, Kubernetes, bare metal, storage, networking, and datacenter fleet operations. This role builds software that automates the transformation of arriving datacenter hardware into accepted clusters, with the goal of reducing the time from physical rack installation to serving customer workloads from weeks to days and ultimately hours. It is a hands-on engineering position focused primarily on code and architecture, with some work on datacenter floors to ensure automation works with real hardware. The engineer will develop and own delivery automation for GPU fleets, working closely with Hardware Design, Fleet Health, Product Managers, and the datacenter organization to coordinate infrastructure delivery with capacity commitments.
Requirements
- Experience automating bare-metal fleets and writing software that turns racks into clusters.
- Hardware fluency with servers, GPUs, NICs, switches, and firmware, including the ability to read parts lists and topology diagrams.
- At least 5 years building backend or infrastructure systems.
- Deep Linux knowledge, including below the application layer.
- Production experience shipping systems in Go.
- Willingness to travel to datacenter sites when required.
- Low-ego, team-first approach and the ability to work well with other engineers.
Responsibilities
- Build the delivery pipeline in Go for provisioning, configuration, validation, burn-in, network bring-up, and software stack installation.
- Own and reduce time-to-acceptance by measuring the process, breaking it into steps, and addressing the slowest steps.
- Work closely with Hardware Design and Fleet Health to support reliability from the delivery stage.
- Handle GPU fleets at scale, including H100- and GB200-class nodes and InfiniBand and RoCE fabrics.
- Partner with Product Managers and the datacenter organization to plan delivery waves against capacity commitments.
