About The Position

Crazy Maple Studio is seeking a full-stack software engineer for a small, executive-led team exploring and shipping AI-powered entertainment products. The team operates outside the company’s regular roadmap and focuses on building new products from zero to one, rapidly prototyping ideas, testing them with real users, and scaling successful experiments. The engineer will have ownership from initial development through launch and analysis of user metrics, and will help shape the new team’s technology stack.

The role involves building mobile applications for iOS and Android, integrating large language models and AI tools, developing backend APIs and data systems, and expanding proven products to the web. The position is onsite five days a week in Sunnyvale, California, with occasional evening availability to coordinate with teams in other time zones. The target salary range is $120,000–$150,000, depending on experience, skills, specialization, and training. Requirements

• Approximately 2–5 years of experience building and shipping software.
• Shipped at least one mobile app to the App Store or Google Play using React Native or Flutter; native iOS or Android experience is also welcome.
• Able to build backend APIs using TypeScript, Python, or a similar language.
• Experience working with databases such as PostgreSQL and deploying to AWS or GCP.
• Daily use of AI coding tools and a strong desire to explore them further.
• Fast learner who moves quickly and can work without waiting for permission.
• Comfortable working in ambiguous situations without an established playbook.
• Self-directed, low ego, and willing to take on the unglamorous work required to build a zero-to-one product.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, prompt design, or agent frameworks.
• Web frontend experience with React, Next.js, or similar technologies.
• Experience with in-app purchases, subscriptions, mobile growth, or analytics.
• Background in consumer products, video, interactive content, or games.
• Mandarin language capability.

Responsibilities

• Build new AI-powered mobile applications end to end, including user-facing screens, APIs, and data systems for evaluating product performance.
• Turn rough ideas into working prototypes quickly and develop successful prototypes into polished iOS and Android apps.
• Integrate large language models, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source models, and evaluate their capabilities and limitations in products.
• Track user responses and use product signals to guide future development.
• Expand successful products to the web after validating their core experiences.
• Experiment with new AI tools and research, and share findings with the team.
• Own products from initial implementation through launch and post-launch user metrics.
