About The Position

Sift is hiring a full-stack software engineer to build and maintain features across its web application and data-processing backend for complex telemetry data. The role includes creating intuitive data-exploration interfaces for large, real-time datasets and implementing efficient APIs and data-access patterns for real-time data streaming. The engineer will collaborate with data platform and frontend teams on service design and implementation, write clean, maintainable code, and participate in technical design discussions. Sift is an early-stage data infrastructure platform for hardware engineering teams. Its product turns high-frequency telemetry into engineering insights for mission-critical systems. The position is based around Sift’s Marina Del Rey headquarters, with in-person collaboration on Mondays and Thursdays and a full week together every two months. Sift is open to relocating candidates to Los Angeles or, for the right candidate, working from its San Francisco office. U.S. person status is required in compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations.

Requirements

At least 3 years of professional experience in full-stack software development.
Experience building production applications with technologies such as React, NextJS, TypeScript, Go, Rust, and Python.
Familiarity with relational and non-relational databases, such as PostgreSQL, Druid, Pinot, Timescale, or similar.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual such as an asylee or refugee, in compliance with ITAR/EAR regulations.

Nice To Haves

Experience with technical visualization tools such as WebGL, D3.js, or Apache ECharts, and with time-series data.
Knowledge of WebAssembly and browser-based computation.
Background in scientific computing or technical data visualization.
Experience building tools for technical users, such as dashboards or data-editing environments.
A history of building and launching side projects with consistent usage traffic.
