About The Position

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a creative and talented software engineer who is passionate about solving problems and improving the lives of people. SEL develops critical products that protect, control, monitor & analyze the power grid. Our team is developing a new web application to solve several industry-wide product development challenges. The problem space is highly variable and offers fresh, interesting feature opportunities. We would like a well-rounded individual to collaborate with us to build wonderful software that delights our customers and makes their day to day lives better. The ideal candidate for this role is passionate about creating high quality software that provides value to its users. This candidate is excited about solving unique and challenging problems and finds joy in inventing creative solutions. They also seek opportunities to expand their skills and experiences and teach others. This role is full stack. Your primary focus will be designing and implementing React based frontends or Go based microservices with accompanied automated testing for a web application focused on product development. You will also be responsible for the deployment of this software in a production environment. Note: United States Citizenship is required

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science, CS, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years’ experience with Web Application development, including:
  • Typescript + React
  • Go, C#
  • Test Automation
  • Microservice Architectures
  • Collaborates in a team environment
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Excellent writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • United States Citizenship is required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience deploying or maintaining services in Kubernetes‑based environments, or strong interest in developing this expertise.
  • Familiarity with containerization and modern cloud‑native tooling (Docker, Helm, Terraform), or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new infrastructure technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate on the specification, design, implementation, deployment, and testing of software applications.
  • Recommend and implement processes following industry best practices for developing, testing, and deploying software.
  • Serve as a technical contact for internal customers.
