Discord's mission is to create a space where everyone can find belonging by enabling meaningful connections through voice, video, and text. We're looking for a mission-driven Software Engineer to join our Core Product team. This team is responsible for shaping the heart of the Discord experience: how people chat, hang out, and express themselves every day. As part of Core Product, you'll work on some of Discord's most heavily used surfaces, partnering closely with designers and product managers to take features from concept to launch. You'll build polished, high-impact experiences used by millions of people every day. This role is ideal for engineers who combine strong technical execution with product intuition—people who care deeply about user experience and aren't afraid to jump into unfamiliar parts of the stack to make something better.

Requirements

You have 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
You have specialized in building consumer-facing products on web and mobile platforms
You have developed domain expertise in either web or mobile front-end (or both)
You are eager to learn new languages and frameworks, and are comfortable working across the full stack when needed
You have worked in a product team with clear metrics goals and had a measurable positive impact on customers
You have a strong product sense and take pride in sweating the details of great UX

Nice To Haves

You are a Discord user, and understand the core features and flow of Discord communications
You've worked on React Native products

Responsibilities

Building delightful products with a very high bar for quality, performance, and a focus on impact
Working with Product, Design, Data Science, UX Research, and Marketing to shape the team's vision and roadmap
Helping find the right solutions that balance delight, speed of delivery and impact by collaborating with design and product partners
Taking ownership of projects end-to-end, from initial design through post-launch, with support from senior teammates
Actively participating in team rituals including planning, code review, on-call, and retrospectives
