About The Position

This Continuous Product Engineering (Sustaining Engineering) position involves diagnosing, reproducing, and identifying solutions to customer-reported problems with NetApp products in a GDC context. You will work with NetApp ONTAP, the number one storage operating system on the planet. Problem areas include NetApp hardware, software, and multi-vendor interoperability. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving puzzles, working "under the covers" of complex systems to understand their behavior, and digging into low-level operating system code to find and fix product deficiencies. You will also collaborate with support and development engineers to improve the supportability, resiliency, and functionality of NetApp ONTAP. Specific areas of focus will be in diagnosing complex customer issues in the sphere of Google Cloud and ONTAP. You will collaborate with other engineers in debugging and identifying the root cause of filesystem problems, as well as finding ways to recover data and/or down systems. You will develop and communicate action plans as appropriate. You will perform technical duties through careful examination of system logs, system status information, system memory dumps, and NetApp ONTAP source code. You will perform technical duties in a timely manner while in constant communication with support personnel, escalation managers, and sometimes directly with customers. You will contribute to the development of software fixes or enhancements to NetApp ONTAP.
