About The Position

The CIBC Northeastern University Co-op Program is designed to offer students valuable work experience that complements their classroom training and career goals. Co-ops will have opportunities to meet with the executive leadership team, network with employees, and participate in community outreach. CIBC is dedicated to finding, selecting, and training co-ops who will make a positive impact while providing a comprehensive learning experience. Co-ops will work alongside a team of technology and risk professionals, developing technical and analytical skills. The Spring Co-op program runs from January to June, and the Fall Co-op runs from July to December. During the program, co-ops will have access to training opportunities, mentorship, and leadership support. Leaders are invested in the co-op's success, ensuring they have the necessary tools to take advantage of opportunities for a great co-op experience. This position is located in the Chicago office with a hybrid in-person schedule.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled at Northeastern University.
  • Computer Science and/or Engineering majors are preferred, while other majors may be considered.
  • Foundational knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#), databases and data structures.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture.
  • Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • In touch with industry-wide technology trends and best practices.
  • 3.5 GPA minimum.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Must be capable of assuming significant levels of responsibility for assignments to be completed within short time frames.

Responsibilities

  • Join the technology team and work directly with software developers to design, build, test, and maintain applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the design and development of applications.
  • Work toward continuous improvement in application performance and stability.
  • Assist in discovering, evaluating, and implementing technologies to maximize user experience and efficiency.
  • Perform testing to measure software quality and ensure it meets standards.
  • Assist in Agile/Scrum development and application support.
  • Write technical specifications and documentation; translate business requirements into functional specifications.
