About The Position

The CIBC Northeastern University Co-op Program is designed to offer students valuable work experience that complements their classroom training and career goals. Co-ops will have opportunities to meet with the executive leadership team, network with employees, and participate in community outreach. CIBC is dedicated to finding, selecting, and training co-ops who will make a positive impact while providing a comprehensive learning experience. Co-ops will work alongside a team of technology and risk professionals, developing technical and analytical skills. The Spring Co-op program runs from January to June, and the Fall Co-op runs from July to December. During the program, co-ops will have access to training opportunities, mentorship, and leadership support. Leaders are invested in the co-op's success, ensuring they have the necessary tools to take advantage of opportunities for a great co-op experience. This position is located in the Chicago office with a hybrid in-person schedule.

Requirements

Currently enrolled at Northeastern University.
Computer Science and/or Engineering majors are preferred, while other majors may be considered.
Foundational knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, C#), databases and data structures.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work in collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building an innovative culture.
Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
In touch with industry-wide technology trends and best practices.
3.5 GPA minimum.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Must be capable of assuming significant levels of responsibility for assignments to be completed within short time frames.

Responsibilities

Join the technology team and work directly with software developers to design, build, test, and maintain applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assist in the design and development of applications.
Work toward continuous improvement in application performance and stability.
Assist in discovering, evaluating, and implementing technologies to maximize user experience and efficiency.
Perform testing to measure software quality and ensure it meets standards.
Assist in Agile/Scrum development and application support.
Write technical specifications and documentation; translate business requirements into functional specifications.
