About The Position

Deploy is an intelligence infrastructure platform providing access to open-source and proprietary AI models. The company operates an optimized inference engine for leading open-source large language models and offers proprietary models for content safety, AI and deepfake detection, sponsorship intelligence, and intellectual property and publicity protection. The Backend Software Engineer will build and improve backend services and products. The role suits developers interested in taking products and features into production, working autonomously, exploring new technologies, and solving challenges at scale. The ideal candidate has experience building core services and web APIs from the ground up, cares about both the product and its underlying technology, and writes clean, maintainable code. The position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the company’s development. The expected base salary is $120,000–$180,000; actual compensation may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Stock options may be offered in addition to base pay.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
A few years of experience building web applications.
Experience or a strong interest in writing applications in Node.js.
Experience implementing highly available distributed systems or microservices.
Experience building scalable backend APIs.
Experience working with relational databases.
Strong belief in high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices.
Attention to detail and a passion for correctness.
Comfort learning new technologies and systems.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a bias toward action.

Nice To Haves

Experience with PostgreSQL; it is the preferred relational database.
Understanding of monitoring and alerting platforms.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and improve backend features across REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing systems, and distributed task and job processing systems.
Write and maintain scalable, performant, secure code that can be shared across platforms.
Contribute to the product and core backend systems by proposing and carrying out improvements.
Improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, and security.
Practice test-driven development.
Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
Participate in on-call rotations as needed to resolve critical technical issues promptly and effectively.
Use OWASP Top 10 techniques to secure code against vulnerabilities.
Maintain awareness of industry best practices for data maintenance and handling relevant to the role.
Follow policies, guidelines, and procedures for protecting information assets.
Report actual or suspected security or policy violations and breaches to an appropriate authority.
