About The Position

The Associate Software Engineer develops, supports, and maintains software for simulator systems. Application areas include real-time simulation; aircraft systems, navigation, and dynamics; simulator interoperability; integration with OEM software; simulator software system design; and computer systems and information security. This is an intermediate, continuing-development-level role involving varied and sometimes difficult work, with guidance as needed and application of learning to recommend solutions for unusual situations. The position contributes throughout the software development cycle, from requirements analysis and design through construction, testing, verification, troubleshooting, maintenance, and user support. It also involves interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams to create software models of physical systems; preparing customer tests and user guides; demonstrating systems to customers; collaborating with software and hardware engineers and other departments; prototyping technologies, algorithms, structures, and processes; conducting research and development; supporting computer system and hardware integration and maintenance; and supporting engineering tool development. The role requires professional, courteous, and cooperative interaction with internal and external customers, effective communication across departments, and continued awareness of current technologies through technical papers and research. The employee is accountable for assigned work, accurate time recording, regular attendance, safe and alert work, and protection and controlled handling of export-restricted documents, equipment, and business information. Travel, shift work, special work hours, and overtime may be required. The position may require applying for and maintaining a security clearance.
