About The Position

Sierra is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Financial Services team, focusing on building AI agents for the insurance industry. This role involves designing and delivering production-grade AI agents that are central to Sierra's growth and drive revenue. The engineer will have complete ownership of the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), from pilot to deployment and iteration. They will partner with large enterprises and startups to understand business challenges and build transformative AI solutions. The role also involves contributing to the evolution of Sierra's core platform by surfacing unmet needs and prototyping new features. Example projects include designing AI agents for insurance claims processing, developing agents for complex customer interactions like generating quotes for modified vehicles, creating industry-specific AI agent frameworks, facilitating design partnerships for new product initiatives, and experimenting with voice models for enterprise customers.

Requirements

Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
Strong technical problem-solving skills, especially in fast-changing, ambiguous environments.
A builder and tinkerer's mindset with high agency.
Comfort working directly with customers to understand their needs and solve real-world problems.
Excellent communication skills—clear, direct, and persuasive across technical and non-technical audiences.
Genuine interest in Financial Services and improving the end customer experience.

Nice To Haves

Experience in insurance technology, implementations at financial institutions, working inside of these institutions or familiarity with financial services security and compliance requirements (coverage advice, PII handling, etc.).
Experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production.
Have been a founder or founding engineer.
Familiarity with tools that power today's AI agents: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
Prior experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go.
Previous roles where you interfaced with customers or led technical projects with external stakeholders.

Design and deliver production-grade AI agents that are highly performant, reliable, and intuitive.
Drive the Agent Development Life Cycle (ADLC), including building, tuning, and evolving AI agents in production environments.
Partner with leaders at large enterprises and cutting-edge startups to understand business challenges and build AI agents.
Guide the evolution of Sierra's core platform by surfacing unmet needs, prototyping new tools and features, and collaborating with research, product, and platform teams.
Build and ship scalable systems running in production environments across industries like finance, healthcare, and commerce.
