About The Position

Wyetech is seeking a Software Engineer (SWE) Level 2 to develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems supporting mission-critical environments. The selected candidate will analyze user and system requirements, design and develop software solutions, integrate new capabilities into existing systems, troubleshoot software issues, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams. This position requires an experienced Software Engineer who can contribute independently within an Agile development environment while also providing technical leadership for smaller development efforts. The ideal candidate has experience with modern software-development practices, cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD, and scalable system design.

Requirements

  • Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs and contracts of comparable scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Engineering Management, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Four (4) years of additional Software Engineering experience on projects of similar scope, type, and complexity may substitute for the bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing complex software systems based on documented requirements.
  • Experience reviewing and testing software components for adherence to design requirements.
  • Experience resolving software problem reports and troubleshooting complex software issues.
  • Experience applying appropriate software-development and software-design methodologies.
  • Experience conducting requirements analysis and synthesizing requirements from the system level to individual software components.
  • Ability to evaluate hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, and the use of COTS/GOTS solutions in place of new development when appropriate.
  • JIRA & GitLab: Experience managing development workflows, issue tracking, source/version control, and coordinating Agile/Scrum teams to support timely project delivery.
  • Agile/Scrum Methodologies: Experience applying iterative software-development methodologies, sprint planning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Infrastructure as Code – Terraform: Experience defining, provisioning, and managing cloud infrastructure using Terraform to support automated and repeatable deployments.
  • AWS Cloud Security: Experience implementing cloud-security best practices, including IAM policies, network segmentation, encryption, auditing, and protection of cloud resources and data.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience designing and maintaining Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines to automate testing, building, integration, and deployment processes.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with current polygraph is required.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, United States Citizenship and position appropriate security clearance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) years of demonstrated software-development experience using high-level programming languages such as Java, C, or C++ .
  • Demonstrated experience working with Open Source/NoSQL technologies such as HBase, Accumulo, and Bigtable .
  • Three (3) or more years of experience developing software for UNIX/Linux operating systems .
  • Demonstrated experience developing RESTful services .
  • Experience supporting processing-intensive analytics, complex or novel algorithms, extremely large datasets, real-time systems, and/or business-management information systems.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user and system requirements to inform software design, performance expectations, interfaces, and technical feasibility.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications, including enhancing existing systems with new features and capabilities.
  • Develop and implement complex algorithms while adhering to timing, system-resource, performance, and interface constraints.
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Hardware Engineers, and other cross-functional teams to align software solutions with broader system architecture and constraints.
  • Develop and optimize data queries and database interactions ranging from simple data retrieval to complex data-processing logic.
  • Contribute to system-integration activities across new and existing environments, ensuring compatibility and stability.
  • Support software installation and monitor system and equipment functionality to ensure operational specifications are met.
  • Develop and execute test procedures for software components and document test results.
  • Perform quality-control activities to ensure software products comply with coding standards, design requirements, and system requirements.
  • Create, review, and maintain clear technical documentation for software and system components.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to software-development processes, documentation standards, and team workflows.
  • Contribute effectively within a development team and provide leadership for smaller development efforts or technical tasks as needed.
  • Coordinate development activities to support timely and compliant delivery of software solutions.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements supporting continuous development and operational improvement.
  • Work individually or as part of a software-development team to deliver mission-critical capabilities.
  • Provide technical direction and oversight for software-development activities as required.
  • Oversee one or more software-development efforts and ensure work is completed within the constraints of the selected software-development process.
  • Coordinate with Systems Engineers and Hardware Engineers to derive software requirements and understand project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Promote software reuse, maintainability, scalability, and adherence to established development standards.
