Software Engineer 1
About The Position
As an entry-level Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of software components within a specific product area. Working closely with experienced engineers, you will build technical expertise, apply development best practices, and help deliver high-quality software solutions in a collaborative environment. LexisNexis® Risk Solutions provides customers with solutions and decision tools that combine public and industry specific content with advanced technology and analytics to assist them in evaluating and predicting risk and enhancing operational efficiency. We use the power of data and advanced analytics to help our customers make better, timelier decisions. By bringing clarity to information, we ultimately help make communities safer, insurance rates more accurate, commerce more transparent, business decisions easier and processes more efficient. The technology team is responsible for designing, building, and supporting a centralized platform that powers all customer transactions. Every customer request and response flows through this platform, making it a critical backbone for seamless, reliable interactions across our ecosystem. The platform currently supports over 1,000 customers and integrates with the full suite of LexisNexis Insurance products, ensuring consistent, scalable, and secure connectivity across services. The organization is structured into multiple squads, each with a dedicated area of focus. These squads are composed of engineers who not only drive new development and innovation, but also provide end-to-end operational support, including maintaining and optimizing production environments. This dual focus enables us to deliver high-quality solutions while ensuring stability, performance, and continuous improvement of the platform.
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Basic knowledge of data manipulation languages.
- Experience building REST APIs and solid experience with SQL.
- Knowledge of data storage subsystems.
- Hands-on experience working with Java 21, Spring Boot and Spring Framework.
- Knowledge of test-driven development.
- Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
- Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities
- Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of simple complexity.
- Under the guidance of senior-level engineers, successfully implement development processes, coding best practices and code reviews.
- Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Complete bug fixes and resolve basic technical issues as necessary.
- Keep abreast of new technology developments.
- All other duties as assigned.
