About The Position

The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex software systems based on documented requirements. Work may involve processing-intensive analytics, algorithm development, large data sets, real-time systems, or business management information systems. The engineer may work individually or as part of a team; reviews and tests software components against design requirements; documents test results; and resolves software problem reports. The role uses software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment and provides input to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS use, and translating system-level requirements into software components. The role includes analyzing user requirements and deriving software design and performance requirements; debugging and correcting software defects; designing and coding new software or modifying existing software; integrating software into systems or operating environments; developing database queries and interfaces; developing algorithms; and assisting with software testing. The engineer also analyzes system performance, workflows, data usage, and problem areas, and may serve as a team lead at the level appropriate to the project’s software development process. Core competencies include web development with Vue JS or React and familiarity with REST, Node JS, and Python. Requirements

Seven years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university; four additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for the degree.
TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required.

Responsibilities

Analyze user requirements and derive software design and performance requirements.
Debug existing software and correct defects.
Recommend improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
Design and code new software, or modify existing software to add features, correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
Write or review software and system documentation.
Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process used on a project.
Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries.
Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
Analyze system performance standards, systems flow, data usage, work processes, and problem areas to develop software solutions.
Use scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure design outcomes and consequences.
Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements, document test results, and resolve software problem reports.
Provide input to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS alternatives, and requirements analysis and synthesis.
