About The Position

The Software Engineer 1 designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs applications software and systems containing logical and mathematical solutions. The role conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and hardware engineers to plan, design, develop, and use electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. It determines computer user needs and analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems involving program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. The position also prepares operating instructions, designs and develops compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems, and ensures software standards are met. The role is with Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII. It is a first-shift, full-time position with no telework eligibility and travel requirements of 10%–25%. U.S. citizenship is required. Relocation assistance is available.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree.
U.S. citizenship is required.
No years of relevant exempt experience required.

Responsibilities
