Sr. Software Development Engineer, Aurora Storage
About The Position
Amazon Aurora is a relational database service compatible with MySQL and Postgres, offering high performance and availability at a lower cost than commercial databases. It is powered by a distributed, auto-scaling, and auto-healing storage cluster. Aurora Global Database allows customers to replicate data across multiple AWS Regions with sub-second lag for disaster recovery and global read traffic. The Aurora Global Database team is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to build globally distributed replication systems that span numerous AWS Regions and support mission-critical workloads. This role involves designing and implementing core systems for cross-region failover, managed planned switchover, write forwarding, and global consistency at scale, addressing the increasing customer demand for cross-region disaster recovery due to compliance, data sovereignty, and business continuity needs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
Nice To Haves
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
