Software Development Engineer

Avalore, LLC•Herndon, VA

About The Position

As a Software Development Engineer, you will design and implement robust event-driven architectures that improve observability and enable comprehensive tracking of events across diverse data pipelines. You will develop modular systems that integrate new data formats and domains and remain scalable and adaptable as business needs evolve. The role involves building solutions that prioritize access control, fault tolerance, and real-time alerting while maintaining high standards for digital record keeping. You will help create frameworks for granular monitoring and rapid response to system events, supporting operational excellence. The role uses Python for asynchronous and concurrent programming, Kafka for distributed messaging, and JSON for data interchange. Grafana and the ELK stack are used to build dashboards and monitor system health. The position requires an active security clearance with an appropriate polygraph. Travel may be up to 10% and occasional.

Requirements

  • Active security clearance with appropriate polygraph.
  • Experience with Python, Kafka, distributed systems, event-driven design, asynchronous coding, concurrency, JSON, fault tolerance, observability, Grafana, and ELK.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
  • Ability to sit, stand, talk, and hear; often uses hands and fingers to operate a computer.
