About The Position

AWS Marketplace is an online store that helps customers find, buy, and immediately start using trusted software and services that run on the AWS Cloud. We revolutionize the way software is sold and procured, just like how Amazon continues to redefine retail purchasing. We are one of the fastest-growing teams in AWS, and interface with a diverse internal and external community of software service sellers over a wide variety of technologies, with a rapidly growing audience of buyers from different market segments. AWS Marketplace manages the state of the art complex infrastructure to provide a smooth experience for sellers and buyers to buy various software and services for different domains like infrastructure software, machine learning, and IoT. We are looking for experienced Software Development Engineers to help the team take AWS Marketplace to the next level. As a Software Development Engineer on the team you will own significant portions of the product and will have influence on our strategy by helping define the next wave of product features and system architecture. The systems are complex and there are huge opportunities to work at all levels from a set of robust platform services, to system level pieces and everything in between. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system software, is customer-centric, and is passionate about building quality software as well as achieving operational excellence. A commitment to teamwork, hustle, and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are essential. The ideal candidate will have a track record of success delivering new features or products. This person has thrived and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift fast. This person has design and implementation experience, knowledge of web services and protocols, and an in-depth knowledge of distributed systems architectures.

Requirements

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Own the design and implementation of major deliverables end-to-end.
• Collaborate with other engineers on the team, principal engineers, product managers, and partner teams.
• Be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and should have a desire to create, iterate and improve.
