About The Position

Workday is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the Workday Everywhere team. This role involves building and shipping end-to-end features for platforms like Slack and Microsoft Teams, as well as emerging AI agentic platforms, enabling users to perform work within their existing workflows. The Workday Everywhere team delivers software used by millions at an enterprise scale, collaborating closely with other Workday teams and integrating with external collaboration and AI platforms. The work spans product, platform, and integrations, requiring collaboration across multiple teams to achieve shared goals and ensure consistent experiences across various surfaces. Responsibilities include developing new features, end-to-end experiences, and maintaining system stability as the team grows. The team fosters a collaborative environment with a sustainable pace, valuing teamwork, open communication, and problem-solving with kind, capable teammates. Workmates are expected to spend at least 50% of their time in-person at a Workday office location. As a Software Development Engineer on Workday Everywhere, you will contribute to building and shipping features used by customers daily, partnering with product and engineering teams on design, implementation, and testing, and ensuring system reliability. The team encourages ideas for improving productivity, job satisfaction, and code quality, all while developing impactful software.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience in Software Engineering
  • 2+ years of work experience with Javascript and/or Typescript code
  • 2+ years of work experience in both front-end and back-end engineering
  • 2+ years of experience with AWS or similar public cloud environments (e.g., GCP, Azure), including deploying, monitoring, and maintaining applications in these environments
  • 2+ years of working experience in DevOps principles and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. CDK and Terraform)

Nice To Haves

  • Writing quality and well tested code excites you
  • Experience with both front-end development and server or backend development is a plus
  • Strong belief in automation and experience building CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins/Github Actions
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience with writing production quality code in TypeScript
  • Experience designing and building APIs (REST and/or GraphQL)
  • You have delivered several production quality applications and know how to maintain and support them
  • Strong communicator that can drive technical and strategic discussions with extended organization
  • A desire to think deeply about user experience and provide feedback on design and UX to create intuitive workflows.
  • Familiarity with monitoring/operational tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana) is a plus
  • Experience with Azure, Google Workspace, and/or Salesforce administration is a plus
  • Experience with event-driven systems (pub/sub, queues, webhooks) is a plus
  • Experience with Workday tenant configuration (security and business process setup) is a plus
  • Experience with Workday’s XO language and OMS/event flows is a plus
  • Familiarity building integrations or skills/actions for AI assistants or agentic platforms is a plus
  • Familiarity with agent standards and protocols such as MCP and A2A protocols is a plus
