About The Position

Vantor is seeking a Software Development Engineer to join their Constellation Enablement Software (CES) Development team in Westminster, CO. This position offers a hybrid work model, with two days at home and three days in the office per week. The role involves supporting the CES Development team's workflows within the Maxar software development environment, working as part of a Scrum Team using the Scaled Agile Framework. Responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and supporting software within a service-oriented architecture that integrates with the existing ground system via the Vantor continuous-integration/continuous-deployment (CI/CD) pipeline. The engineer will also act as an interface between the CES team and the broader Vantor software development teams, and assist in guiding customer teams in adopting software best practices. Vantor emphasizes professional development and continuing education, offering opportunities for team members to define their career trajectory with support from managers and mentors.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and be willing and able to obtain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field. Two additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Minimum 5 years software development of complex software systems, or 3 years and an advanced degree
  • Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others for software engineering projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Expertise with Python
  • Experience with supporting developed code in a pipeline deployment workflow
  • Experience in using Linux and developing applications that run on Linux
  • Experience with REST/JSON/PostgreSQL/AWS

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Aerospace and/or Satellite Ground Systems
  • Experience with test automation languages/frameworks: Pytest, Cucumber, Gherkin, Behave
  • Expertise with Typescript (Angular or React framework) and/or JavaScript
  • Expertise with deploying and managing applications in a Platform as a Service (PaaS) tool such as Kubernetes
  • Experience with analytical platforms like Jupyter Notebooks, Matlab, or others
  • Expertise with Docker or other Containerization technologies
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment, and/or the Scaled Agile Framework
  • Experience with operational support of a complex Linux-based system
  • Experience with operational support of an AWS Cloud Infrastructure
  • Experience with Python Django or other python REST frameworks
  • Experience with the ELK Tech Stack

Responsibilities

  • Design/develop new services and feature improvements to existing services
  • Lead other software developers at times on collaborative design/development efforts
  • Resolve defects to software services as they are identified
  • Provide architectural and design advice on the future direction of a cloud based distributed tech stack
  • Develop automated unit, integration, and functional tests
  • Troubleshoot and remediate operational issues
  • Support deadlines and communicate issues/results
  • Participate in Communities of Practice for adherence to and improvement of best practices
