About The Position

Software Development Engineer for the Software & Networking team. We are looking for an experienced engineer to design, build, test, and deploy end to end services and features. This team builds and owns the core ground services that integrate with satellites and the ground stations.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional backend software development experience
  • Strong experience with Java, including object-oriented principles, data structures, and design patterns for building scalable, reliable backend services
  • Experience with backend API development, distributed systems, and service-oriented architectures
  • Experience with CDK/TypeScript or similar frameworks
  • Experience with AWS technologies such as API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch
  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise-scale backend features end-to-end, including working within existing codebases
  • Ability to think strategically about system-wide impact, mitigate risk, and deploy safely in environments where services must remain operational
  • Comfort working on backend systems used by embedded customer teams, including those operating software on satellites and antennas
  • Ability to build and operate services that support highly distributed, mission-critical workloads with many downstream consumers

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mission-critical or safety-sensitive systems
  • Experience designing or operating services with large numbers of clients and APIs
  • Familiarity with configuration-driven software deployment or systems that enable safe changes without impacting live operations
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Q CLI, Claude Code)
