About The Position

As a member of Esri’s Desktop Architecture team, the Software Development Engineer will work on ArcGIS Pro, a geographic information system (GIS) software used to analyze, visualize, and share spatial data. The role contributes to software infrastructure and frameworks, adapting to established coding patterns and helping enhance performance, reliability, and security. The engineer builds and designs software components, application architectures, APIs, reusable libraries, and automated test validation within agile development processes.

Requirements

• Three years of experience in the job offered or three years of experience in a related occupation.
• Demonstrated experience in C++, OpenGL, data structures, algorithms, Agile, and Python.
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in computer science, engineering, mathematics, GIS, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Build C++ software components using industry-standard design patterns, development methodologies, and deployment models.
• Collaborate with product engineers to implement requirements and create application architectures and APIs that meet product goals.
• Design and develop stable software with automated test validation.
• Develop reusable components and libraries for internal use and as open source.
• Work within agile processes to deliver in short cycles.
• Take on complex goals that push the boundaries of what is possible.
• Solve and articulate complex problems through application design, development, and exemplary user experiences.
