Software Development Engineer, AWS Quick
About The Position
We're seeking a Software Development Engineer to join the AWS Quick RAG team, working on cutting-edge retrieval-augmented generation technology that powers Amazon Quick Suite's intelligent document processing and search capabilities. You'll design and build scalable ingestion pipelines that handle multi-modal content (PDF, audio, video, tables) using computer vision and machine learning, optimize system performance for millions of documents, and collaborate across teams to deliver features that directly impact customer experience. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern AWS technologies including Bedrock, ECS, and DynamoDB while solving complex distributed systems challenges at scale.
Requirements
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Nice To Haves
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable ingestion pipelines that process millions of documents across multiple formats including PDF, audio, video, and structured tables.
- Optimize system performance and reliability.
- Implement computer vision and machine learning solutions for content extraction.
- Collaborate with applied scientists to integrate advanced retrieval models.
- Participate in on-call rotations.
- Conduct code reviews.
- Mentor team members.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that shape the future of AWS Quick Suite's document intelligence capabilities.
- Balance hands-on development with operational excellence, ensuring our systems meet the highest standards for performance, scalability, and customer experience.
