About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network, aiming to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. The Amazon Leo for Government (ALG) team is developing embedded software for Amazon Leo's satellite and ground systems. This role involves working on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms and collaborating with hardware, systems, and product teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance solutions. This is an opportunity to shape the next generation of space-based communication systems with minimal legacy constraints, directly supporting critical government initiatives. The role requires U.S. Citizenship due to government-imposed requirements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 3+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• 2+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 2+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize embedded software for Amazon Leo's satellite and ground terminal systems, focusing on fault-tolerant, real-time platforms.
• Leverage modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and RTOS platforms to develop scalable, modular, and high-performance software.
• Implement and integrate software for data processing, device control, and networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP).
• Debug and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues using tools like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless hardware-software interaction and system reliability.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct design reviews, and uphold high software quality standards.
