About The Position

The Software Development Engineer participates in the full software development process, working in pairing mode with peers to develop high-quality medical device software that meets product requirements. The role follows team-aligned quality goals and development practices and supports continuous improvement through rigorous standards and methodologies.

The engineer integrates software components and third-party libraries into existing systems, conducts and participates in code reviews, and analyzes and optimizes application performance. The role also involves keeping current with emerging technologies and industry trends and collaborating with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to define, design, and ship features aligned with project goals and user needs. The engineer resolves a range of moderately complex requests using sound judgment to select appropriate methods and techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent.
• With a bachelor's degree, at least 5 years of experience in areas such as software development, software design and architecture, testing and quality assurance, or equivalent; with a master's degree, at least 3 years of prior experience.
• Firmware design and development for embedded applications using C/C++.
• Software development experience in the medical industry or a highly regulated industry.
• Experience working with hardware domains, such as circuit analysis, microelectronics, or computer architecture.
• Experience implementing, tuning, and debugging firmware or hardware algorithms.
• Experience with firmware/hardware integration testing and troubleshooting.
• Experience with software configuration management in GitHub.
• Experience providing quality documentation aligned with medical device standards.

• Analyze and optimize application performance by identifying and resolving bottlenecks and ensuring performance benchmarks are met.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends and incorporate useful tools and methodologies to improve development processes and product quality.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and QA engineers to define, design, and ship features aligned with project goals and user needs.
• Resolve moderately complex requests creatively and use good judgment when selecting methods and techniques for solutions.
