About The Position

CarGurus is looking for a Software Development Engineer Intern for the International Engineering team. As a Software Development Engineer Intern, you will join an 11-week Summer Internship Program designed to give you hands-on experience, expand your professional network, and build core industry skills. This full-time opportunity (40 hours per week) runs from June through August 2027. CarGurus operates on a hybrid working model, and candidates should expect to work out of our Boston, MA office 60% of the time (approximately three days per week).

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, with eligibility to complete a full-time internship.
You are familiar with and have a foundational understanding of Java, algorithms, and data structures, as well as front-end technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML, CSS)
You are eager to learn and expand your capabilities
You are drawn to and thrive in a fast-paced environment that pushes code daily
You are able to work independently, as well as in a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Relational/non-relational database knowledge

Responsibilities

Work with Java, MySQL, and front-end technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Remix) including microservices to build applications at CarGurus
Work on a multi-functional team focused on CarGurus International presence (Canada & UK)
Collaborate with data analysts, product managers, and other engineers
Participate in whiteboard sessions and design conversations on engineering the best solution to the challenges at hand
Test out new insights with novel and quick experiments
Write clean, well-tested, and efficient code
Collaborate with and enjoy mentorship by highly skilled engineers
