About The Position

We are growing rapidly and constantly expanding our global contactless payment ecosystem. To support this momentum, we are looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to play a crucial role in delivering our key software solutions. Joining a close-knit engineering team, you will not just write tests—you will champion a quality-first mindset from day one. You will collaborate closely with domain owners to deliver high-quality, clean, and testable code in line with our core strategies. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated SDET who is ready to advocate for best practices, build resilient automation frameworks, and ensure our scalable software thrives within a secure cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

  • You have a strong track record of advocating for modern software testing practices and mentoring engineers to build a healthy, automation-first testing culture.
  • You possess deep experience developing and maintaining automated test suites across the entire testing pyramid, including unit, component, integration, end-to-end, load, and performance testing.
  • You are highly proficient in diverse testing strategies (TDD, BDD, Black/White Box), alongside mocking/stubbing, test data management, and test results reporting.
  • You have hands-on experience with native Golang testing packages and UI frameworks like Playwright. (Note: If you are proficient in another language, we will train you as long as you are committed to learning Golang!)
  • You are experienced with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices (including Infrastructure as Code), and cloud platforms like GCP, alongside a strong understanding of event-based, distributed microservice architectures and containerization.
  • You have a solid grasp of core software engineering fundamentals (Git workflows, OOP, SOLID principles, design patterns) and software security practices (vulnerability assessments, penetration testing).
  • You are a highly organized, analytical problem-solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for sharing knowledge and delivering work you take pride in.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deliver sustainable, scalable, reliable, and well-tested software into a secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Advocate for and implement testing best practices across all disciplines, promoting a quality-driven and testable mindset within the team.
  • Foster a collaborative environment where everyone shares the responsibility for quality and testing from the very outset of a project.
  • Guide the team during planning and refinement sessions to accurately understand and estimate test efforts and identify dependencies.
  • Pair with Software Engineers during development and code review to ensure appropriate test coverage at all levels and avoid any duplication of efforts.
  • Develop and maintain robust tools for integration, regression, load, performance, and security testing, ensuring our automation framework is targeted, efficient, and resilient.
  • Investigate and determine the root cause of complex issues by analyzing logs, databases, and system behavior.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and a discretionary bonus based on company performance
  • 25 days of annual leave plus UK bank holidays
  • Dedicated monthly “well-being days” to support mental health and work-life balance
  • Attractive company pension plan
  • Fully remote working environment with a focus on flexibility
  • Opportunities for high-impact growth within an international scale-up in the payments industry
