AmazonRedmond, WA
$168,100 - $227,400Onsite

About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network, aiming to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. The Builder Operations, Systems & Services (BOTS) team owns the developer experience, CI/CD infrastructure, and production services for satellite software delivery. They build platforms for compiling, testing, signing, and deploying software to orbit and ground at scale with high availability. This role involves participating in all phases of software development, designing scalable AWS solutions, partnering with embedded software systems, and architecting software distribution and deployment infrastructure for satellites. The ideal candidate is comfortable with ambiguity, designing flexible solutions for novel problems, and working in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed backend services
  • Deep understanding of AWS cloud services and infrastructure patterns
  • Proficiency in at least one of: TypeScript, Python, or GoLang
  • Experience with CI/CD systems and data planes, build systems and pipelines (Brazil), and deployment automation
  • Strong understanding of IAM, permissions models, and security best practices
  • 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 8+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Agentic AI development (Bedrock, AgentCore, LLM tooling)
  • Familiarity with Brazil build systems and internal deployment tooling
  • Experience with S3 storage patterns at scale
  • Track record of operating five-nines services with robust monitoring and alerting
  • Ability to work across the stack — from cloud infrastructure to embedded system interfaces
  • 8+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate large-scale infrastructure services with five-nines availability
  • Architect solutions using AWS stack — IAM, Lambda, CloudWatch, API Gateway, S3, Step Functions
  • Implement fine-grained access control, authorization, and authentication patterns
  • Build Dataplane platforms for CICD, automation, monitoring, and operational excellence tooling
  • Develop agentic AI capabilities using Bedrock and AgentCore
  • Apply a strong security mindset across all designs — least privilege, auditable access, secure-by-default
  • Partner with embedded software teams to enable software distribution and deployment to satellites

Benefits

  • health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage)
